KOLLAM: The Kollam police on Thursday took Shibu, 35, son of Victor Daniel who was arrested for the rape of his 10-year-old granddaughter, into custody for interrogation in connection with the death of a 14-year-old boy in their neighbourhood. The move was based on a complaint by the boy’s mother alleging Shibu’s role in the boy’s death the other day. The boy was found hanging from the ceiling of his room in 2010 and his mother alleged that Victor, along with his son Shibu, had killed the boy. Shibu threatened to kill their elder daughter by saying that he had come for her, but got only the boy.
The family earlier stayed close to the house of Victor Daniel and shifted to a new location after getting death threats, she had said. The police is examining the possibility of including the grandmother and mother of the 10-year-old girl as co-accused in the case as they were aware of the sexual assault being carried out by the grandfather. The sister of the girl had testified against the grandfather.
Autopsy reveals boy was sodomised
The autopsy report on a 13-year-old boy, who committed suicide at his house in Karavaloor in Punalur on Sunday, has revealed that he was a victim of unnatural sex. It was earlier suspected that he committed suicide. The boy was alone at home. When his parents returned from celebration, they found him hanging. The police conducted inquest in the presence of fingerprint expert and scientific officer. They also recorded the statement of police surgeon after the autopsy. Police questioned the boy's relatives and neighbours as part of inquiry.
