Hyderabad: 8 substitutes write SSC exam, held
Hyderabad: Eight people were taken into custody by Rein Bazaar police as they were writing the SSC exam on behalf of the actual students. Of the eight, two were minors.
Three people were picked up by the South Zone Task Force and Rein Bazaar police from Jawahar School, Yakutpura, three others from Salala High School, Barkas, and two from IZM High School, Yakutpura.
Inspector G. Ramesh of the Rein Bazaar police said that the registered students were underperformers, so their parents contacted agents who charged Rs 5,000 per subject for substituting someone else to write the exam.
Substitutes were tech students
The substitutes were paid Rs 1,000-1,500 each. The inspector noted, “Details of the original students have not been revealed, as the fake students are not disclosing them. But investigation is going on and once we get the details of the original students and their parents, we will arrest them also.”
The agents, Mohammed Ahmed and Mohammed Mazhar, both aged 28, run the Aims School, a private institution, at Yakutpura. They employed a group of en-gineering students and graduates to write SSC exam papers and pay them Rs 1,000-Rs 1,500 per subject, said the police.
A case of impersonation has been booked under section 8 (malpractice) and section 419 of the Indian Penal Code against Abdul Aslam, 18, Syed Faisal, 21, Syed Ka-shif, 19, Syed Moinudd-in, 20, Mohammed Ah-med, 28, and Mohammed Mazhar, 28. The minors were handed over to their families after a warning. An officer fro-m south zone task force said they received a tip-off and after informing the district education officer (DEO) they raided the schools where the exams were held.
