CISF official in trouble after row with woman over ID card at Chennai airport

Woman slaps cop after he misbehaves with her at Chennai airport.

Chennai: CISF officials at Chennai airport are conducting an internal enquiry into an incident in which a CISF sub-inspector allegedly misbehaved with woman passenger who tried to enter the airport without showing her ticket and Identity card on Wednesday evening, airport sources said.

The incident began with three women — all residents of Ahmedabad, Gujarat — arriving at the Chennai airport domestic gate number 4 at around 4.35 pm to catch a 5.05 pm flight home.

A 24-year-old woman who was leading the group told the CISF SI who was on duty at the gate that they did not have the time to show tickets and ID cards because they were rushing to catch the flight. Producing the ticket and ID for passengers at the entry point is a must in all airports in the country.

When the CISF man refused to allow them to enter the airport, a scuffle broke out and in the process the security personnel reportedly touched the woman inappropriately. The woman retaliated by slapping him. This led to commotion at the scene with airport staff and CISF men gathering there.

The three women and the CISF man were later taken to the airport police station where both put firth their version of events.

The woman from Ahmedabad claimed that they were rushing to collect their boarding passes as they were running late and the airline staff, when contacted over phone, had promised to issue the boarding passes if they could reach the airport by 4.30 pm. She said she slapped the CISF SI because she misbehaved with her.

CISF man claimed that he was just doing his duty as all passengers were supposed to produce their ticket and ID card when they enter the airport.
He also denied misbehaving with the woman.

After many rounds of arguments, both sides decided to withdraw their complaints when police, after watching video from the surveillance cameras, pointed out both sides had committed mistakes. The three women, who missed their flight, took one on Thursday morning while the CISF man is facing an internal enquiry now.
