Woman sentenced to life for murder

Tirupati: The VI Additional District Judge in Markapur on Thursday sentenced a woman to life imprisonment and fined her ₹2,000 for murder committed under the B.V. Peta police station limits of Prakasam district in 2017.

According to police, G. Venkata Lakshmamma (32), murdered six-year-old Ram Charan, son of M. Bala Chandrudu of Singarapalli in B.V. Peta mandal. Bala Chandrudu stopped his illicit relationship with Lakshmamma after his son objected to the same.

Following the murder, Bala Chandrudu lodged a complaint with B.V. Peta police, whose sub-inspector Sasi Kumar investigated the case under supervision of Giddalur circle inspector V. Sriram. After gathering evidence, the police officer arrested Lakshmamma, sent her to remand, and filed a charge sheet against her.

Based on the evidence produced by investigating officers, Judge T. Raja sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.

Prakasam district SP Malika Garg congratulated all those involved in prosecution, including additional public prosecutor V. Krishna Rao.
