Chennai: Three workers awarded life term for murder over previous enemity

The judge sentenced the trio to undergo imprisonment for life.

Chennai: The VI Additional Sessions Court, Chennai, has awarded life sentenced to three workers on a charge of murdering a person following previous enmity. Additional Public Prosecutor Teack Raj said Sathiyaraj of Thoraipakkam was having the previous enmity with Dinakaran of the same area. In 2013, Dinakaran had a quarrel with him. Later, Sathiyaraj moved to Sathiya Nagar, Island Ground from Thor aipak kam. Learning this, Dinakaran alerted his friend Viji, 37, of Broadway.

Viji developed enmity against Sathiyaraj and planned to assault Sathiyaraj. On March 3, 2013, when Sathiyaraj and his sister went to a hotel in Broadway, Viji and his friends Appan Raj, 48, and Velu, 32, workers, followed them and attacked Sathiyaraj with deadly weapons. Sathiyaraj succumbed to serious injuries. On a complaint, Esplanade police registered a case against Viji, Appan Raj, and Velu and arrested the trio. The judge sentenced the trio to undergo imprisonment for life. The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000.
