Actor Vishal Krishna appears before Madras High Court
Chennai: Popular film star and general secretary of South India Artistes Association (SIAA) Vishal Krishna on Friday appeared before the Madras high court in connection with a contempt of court case. Originally, Vishal and his men were elected as office-bearers of SIAA during the elections held in 2015. After the election, Vishal had announced that action will be taken against former SIAA president R.Sarath Kumar and his nephew and general secretary Radha Ravi. Aggrieved over the announcement, they approached the Madras high court and on behalf of Vishal, an assurance was given that no such action will be taken against them. However, Sarath Kumar and Radha Ravi were removed from the basic membership of the SIAA.
Therefore, they filed the present contempt application to punish Vishal and others for violating the assurance given to the court and the court ordered statutory notice to Vishal. Accordingly, when the case came up for hearing , Vishal submitted that the duo were removed from the association following a demand from a majority of the members of the association.Dispensing with his personal appearance in future hearings, the judge adjourned the matter to January 18.
