MALAPPURAM: A group of RSS workers attacked the mediapersons during a police raid in the house of one of the accused in the Faisal murder case at Pullooni near Tirur on Thursday. The incident took place when K. Prajeesh, 30, RSS worker, was brought to his house for collecting evidence around 11 a.m. The Tirur police registered a case against 15 RSS-BJP workers based on a complaint filed by Muhammed Shabeer, cameraman of a local television channel, who was attacked by the group. Vinnod Talapalli, local reporter of Deshabhimani daily, was also manhandled by the group and threatened with murder if they publish the visuals of the police raid.
Various political parties except the BJP took out a protest march at Tirur town condemning the attack. Meanwhile, the investigation team probing the Faisal murder found mobile phones and a motorbike used by Prajeesh, T. Sudheesh Kumar, 23, and P. Shreekesh, 26, and took them into custody. The motorbike was used by Prajeesh as part of the murder plot, the police said. The team also brought Sudheesh and Shreekesh to their houses for collecting evidence.
Later, the three were produced before the First Class Magistrate Court at Parappanangadi which remanded them till December 31. The chopper used by Prajeesh to hack Faisal was recovered from a river near his house by the probe team on Wednesday. The charred remnants of the clothes worn by the three during the crime were found near the RSS office at Thrikandiyur near Tirur earlier.
