Adilabad: A badly constructed road without a bitumen (BT) surface, let alone a railing, reportedly caused a road accident that resulted in two deaths and two others being seriously injured near Pippalkoti, a village bordering Maharashtra at 4 am on November 21.
The car in which they were travelling jumped off the road as no BT road was laid for 20 meters and there was no railing. The driver lost control of the vehicle in the foggy conditions and swerved into agriculture fields at some speed.
The deceased, said to be natives of Hyderabad, were identified as Yogesh Gupta, 37, of Chappal Bazar and Patali Kishore, 36, of Charminar area of Hyderabad city.
According to sources, they were travelling in a Jaguar from Nagpur and the incident took place near Pippalkoti while they were on their way to Hyderabad.
A lorry driver stopped his vehicle when the injured persons in the incident came onto the NH-44 and sought help.
The lorry driver took the two injured persons to the RIMS where they underwent treatment and were later shifted to Hyderabad as their condition deteriorated.
The two injured persons were able to reach the NH-44 while two others breathed their last since they lost their way in the fields in the dark and foggy conditions after their vehicle jumped off the road.
The villagers of Pippalkoti staged a rasta roko on Friday, demanding that the Maharashtra government take action against the contractor for not laying a BT road, causing nearly 10 road accidents till now.
