Hyderabad: Tensed and depressed over clearing the campus placement interviews, a 20-year-old engineering student committed suicide by hanging on Wednesday night.
The student has been identified as Palaniswamy Pragathi, a final year engineering student in TRK college and a resident of Huda Colony.
According to the Meerpet police the victim’s parents have gone to Tamil Nadu to attend a family function a week ago, leaving her at her uncle’s home.
Meerpet sub-inspector of police, said, “She was staying at her maternal uncle’s home as her parents were out of town. She told her uncle that she was going to college and left home on Wednesday. When she did not return in the evening, her uncle went to her house and found her hanging.”
The neighbours shifted her to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. Police shifted her body to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem and registered a case under Section 174 CrPC.
