Bengaluru: Woman scribe alleges sexual harassment by colleague

Ajmal pulled her into the gent's restroom and allegedly misbehaved with her.

Bengaluru: A 22-year-old woman working with an online news portal was sexually harassed by her colleague at a pub in Koramangala, last Saturday.

The victim, a resident of Bannerghatta Road, and an employee of an online news portal in Koramangala, has lodged a complaint with the police against one Ajmal Kaleem.

Kaleem, who was her colleague, has been arrested by the police, produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody on Monday.

In her complaint, the woman stated that after finishing work on Saturday, she along with her colleagues Akash Anand, Ajmal Kaleem, Akash Girimath, Pebin Joshy and others had gone to the Beer Cafe in Koramangala around 9.30 pm for dinner.

After they had a few drinks, Ajmal started misbehaving with her and she took objection to his conduct and told him to stay away. Later Ajmal pulled her into the gent’s restroom and allegedly misbehaved with her.

The woman informed her other colleagues about the incident, who hailed a cab and sent her home.

The woman disclosed the incident to her family members and the next day she approached the Koramangala police and lodged a complaint.

The police have arrested Kaleem and further investigations are underway.
