The police said that Brahmananda was running a tempo business, while Mohan was studying in class seven at a private school.

Bengaluru: A 43-year-old man fell off the Avalahalli flyover on the Bengaluru-Kolar Highway and died, while his son too succumbed after suffering critical head injuries when a speeding car crashed into their two-wheeler on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Brahmananda Reddy and his son, Mohan Sai Reddy, 12, residents of Vinayaka Layout. The police said that Brahmananda was running a tempo business, while Mohan was studying in class seven at a private school.

Mohan was not well for the last few days and on Monday morning, his father decided to take him to a hospital in Hoskote. Around 10.45 am while they were riding on the Bengaluru-Kolar Highway the car crashed into their bike on the Avalahalli flyover. The impact was so high that the two were tossed up in the air. While Brahmananda hit the flyover parapet wall and fell off the bridge, Mohan sustained severe head injuries. Both died on the spot.

The car driver abandoned his vehicle and fled from the spot. The police shifted the bodies for postmortem and later handed them over to their family members.

The Avalahalli police have seized the car and launched a manhunt for the driver.
