KOZHIKODE: A man was literally caught with his pants down by a CCTV which captured visuals of him molesting a woman who was returning home after work in the evening. The visuals have gone viral on the Internet. Jamsheer T., 33, Jams-heela Manzil, Thoppayil beach, near Nadakkavu, was caught on the CCTV installed along the narrow lane, connecting Kannur and Wayanad roads, parallel to YMCA Crossroad. What made things worse for him was that the CCTV footage became a hot topic on chats on social media platforms. He was also nailed by the victim who personally submitted a complaint before the Nadakkavu police. From the footage, placed by the residents' association, police could identify the person, but locating him was not easy, as he had left the house.
From the mobile number of Jamsheer, his CDR was collected and he was traced near Koyilandy Government Hospital. He was nabbed in the early hours of Sunday by a team led by SI Shaju K. and officers Baiju T., M.T. Biju and Hadil K. According to police, this was not the first time the accused was involved in such cases. He was produced before judicial first class magistrate court IV.
They added that the man was not aware of the huge cry on social media against him and was just trying to escape from the scene, as he feared that the victim might have complained. The narrow lane that joins bank road junction is being used by many, especially students from this area, and the footage of the rape attempt in broad daylight, spread on social media caused panic.
