Kidnapper held for trying to sell 4-year-old baby

The police rescued the boy from Guntakal in Andhra Pradesh and arrested the kidnapper, Sunkara Gangaiah, who hails from Guntakal.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police foiled the attempt of an auto driver to sell a four-year-old boy for Rs 1 lakh, whom he had kidnapped from Rajendranagar two weeks ago. The police rescued the boy from Guntakal in Andhra Pradesh and arrested the kidnapper, Sunkara Gangaiah, who hails from Guntakal. The boy was handed over to his parents on Friday.

According to the police, Gangaiah was selling ayurvedic medicines on the road side. He found many toddlers in the area and decided to kidnap them to sell them to childless couples.

He noticed Nagesh who was playing in front of his house and kidnapped him.

“He lured the boy by offering him chocolates and kidnapped him. Later, he took him to Guntakal via train,” said Ms PV Padmaja, DCP Shamshabad.

Meanwhile, the boy’s father Sharanappa lodged a complaint with the Rajendranagar police, which cracked the case with the help of their counterparts in Guntakal. The boy was handed over to his parents and Gangaiah was arrested and sent to remand.
