Chennai: 24-year-old youth gets five year jail term
Chennai: The Mahila Court sentenced a 24-year old youth-ment for five years on charge of sexually abusing a six-year-old girl three years ago. The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.
According to prosecution, P Narendra, 24, was residing in Thiruvanmiyur.
He was close to a woman in the neighbourhood.
Narendra entered her house when her six-year-old daughter was alone.
He sexually assaulted the girl after removing her dress.
On a complaint from mother of the victim, All Women Police Station, Adyar registered a case against Narendra under section 10 of Pocso 2012 Act. Chargesheet was filed against him before the court.
On completion of trial, Mahila Court Judge, RN Manjula said the prosecution proved the charges beyond reasonable doubt.
The judge sentenced him to under-go imprisonment for five years and slapped him with a fine of Rs 5,000.
The judge said the victim child suffered both physical and mental agony at the age of six.
She must have been frightened due to the sexual assault, which would have affected her.
The judge recommended the State government to pay an interim compensation of Rs 25,000.
