Quthbullapur: Man held for harassing woman
Hyderabad: Unable to bear harassment by a stranger, a woman assistant professor from Jeedimetla approached the Pet Basheerabad police who later identified a 20-year-old lab technician from Quthbullapur and nabbed him on Wednesday.
The accused was identified as G. Jagadish, a resident of Srinivasanagar. The professor received a call from Jagadish and she informed him that he had reached a wrong number.
From the next day, the stranger was troubled as she started receiving calls and messages from the same number even at night. When the professor did not pick up, he sent abusive and vulgar text messages.
Pet Basheerabad sub-inspector G. Srinivas said, “The victim waited for a month thinking he would stop calling and texting. On August 19, she lodged a complaint, following which a case was registered under Sections 354 D of IPC and Section 66 of IT Act.”
“Further probe would be taken up after Jagadish is taken into custody,” the S-I added.
Cyberabad DCP (Women Protection Cell) said, “Once a person gets to know that the call was from an unknown number, he/she should stop responding to them.”
If we keep responding, they take advantage and continuously trouble us. The best way is to not attend calls from unknown numbers. It will prevent the miscreants troubling us.”
