Hyderabad: History sheeter gets jail time

A case (Cr No 659/2017) was registered against Rajesh under Section 307 of IPC and he was remanded two days after the incident.

Hyderabad: A history sheeter who attempted to murder a labourer for not giving him money has been convicted by the Ninth Additional Sessions Judge of Ranga Reddy court and imprisoned for three years.

Geedikanti Rajesh alias Gyaneshwar, 42, a resident of Kranthi Colony in Medipally worked as a security guard for a few years before quitting. He regularly created a nuisance in residential areas by trying to extort money from the public.

“A history sheet was opened against Rajesh for his involvement in illegal activities as he used to threaten people who failed to give money, when he demanded,” said Medipally police.

“On August 28, 2017 a heavily drunk Rajesh approached Shivarathri Pedda Yellaiah, 55, and asked him to give Rs 500. Yellaiah asked Rajesh to come the next day as the latter was drunk. Rajesh took a blade concealed in his mouth and slit Yellaiah’s throat. The injured man was admitted to Kakatiya Hospital and later discharged,” said police officials.

A case (Cr No 659/2017) was registered against Rajesh under Section 307 of IPC and he was remanded two days after the incident. Following a trial, he was convicted and directed to undergo rigorous imprisonment for three years and pay Rs 500 as penalty.
