Drunken brawl: Man killed
Bengaluru: A 32-year-old man was hacked to death in Cottopet area in West division, in a drunken brawl late Tuesday.
According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Rakesh. He had a fight with his friends which subsequently ended in murder at Pension Mohalla.
The deceased Rakesh was a resident of Anjanappa Garden. He used to supply water cans to shops.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the murder took place at around 10.30 p.m., when Rakesh was on his way home. His two friends identified as Ranjith and Mani, both allegedly drunk, joined him midway.
They stopped Rakesh and over a trivial row picked up a quarrel with him and started abusing him.
Police said that when Rakesh took objection to their misbehaviour and raised his voice, the enraged duo stabbed him in his abdomen and chest and fled.
The passersby rushed Rakesh to hospital, but he was declared brought dead.
Police who was informed visited the hospital and later registered a case of murder.
Ranjith had a criminal background and there are four cases against him in Cottonpet. Police claimed they have information about the absconding duo and would arrest them soon.
