Three murders rock Bengaluru
Bengaluru: Three murders were reported in different police station limits in the city since Monday evening.
A 20-year-old daily wage worker died after he was tortured and given electric shocks on suspicion of theft in Marathahalli police limits on Monday. The deceased, Basheer, was from West Bengal. Two of his friends, Hafiz (19) and Ajmal (20), too were injured.
The incident took place near Munikola Kere where hundreds of daily wage workers mostly from West Bengal stay in sheds. Basu Reddy, who runs a water tanker business, had put up a pump house near the lake. On Monday evening, Reddy found some electric wires missing from the pump house. Suspecting Basheer, Hafiz, and Ajmal, as they lived nearby, Reddy along with three others took the trio to the pump house. The victims were tied up, assaulted and given electric shocks. While Basheer died on the spot, Hafiz and Ajmal sustained injuries. The suspects then fled the spot. The Marathahalli police have launched a manhunt for the accused.
In another incident, a gang of unidentified miscreants hacked a rowdy to death in Talaghattapura police limits. The deceased is 30-year-old Raghu alias Tablet.
Raghu had gone to a temple in Mandya along with his four friends in a car. They returned late on Monday night and when they stopped the car to drop one of their friends near Reshmenagar, another car halted nearby and a gang of miscreants launched an attack on Raghu, killing him on the spot. Another man sustained injuries. The Talaghattapura police suspect it to be a case of old rivalry. Raghu had over 10 cases booked against him.
A fight between a man and his wife over a financial issue took a fatal turn when he strangled his wife at Srirampura police limits on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, Janaki Jyothi (35), was a resident of Hanumanthanagar. Janaki and her husband Chandrashekhar (42), a flower decorator, had five children. Janaki, who was working as a security guard, had quit her job two months ago and was at home. Chandrashekhar was forcing Janaki to transfer her investments to his name. As Janaki refused, he killed her early on Tuesday and fled. Janaki's eldest daughter found her dead around 4 in the morning. She was rushed to KC General Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
