Hyderabad: A bike mechanic and his 12-year-old neighbour were killed in an accident at Nacharam on Tuesday, when a speeding van hit their bike from behind. The deceased are Abhishek Thakur and Akash.
Police said Abhishek Thakur, a resident of Mallapur, was a bike mechanic at ECIL and Akash his neighbour.
On Tuesday they were heading towards ECIL from Mallapur on Abhishek’s bike. While passing Noma Function Hall in Nacharam, a van hit their bike from behind. As the van was moving at high speed, the bikers were flung into the air. They fell some distance away and suffered severe injuries.
Abhishek died on the spot and Akash died in hospital. Police registered an accidental death case. “The accident occurred due to rash driving by the van driver. He was tested for alcohol but the result was negative,” inspector B. Vittal Reddy said. The van driver Lakshman was detained and the van was seized.
