Three accused arrested for threatening trader in Kaikaluru

KAKINADA: Kaikaluru police arrested three persons—Thokala Yeselu of Chavalapadu village in Mandapalli mandal, Seelam Hemanth Kumar of Yerragadda in Hyderabad and Chinnam Barambasu alias Pedababu of Chavalapadu village of Mandavilli mandal—on the charge of threatening a trader in the name of Naxalite and demanding Rs.2 crore from him.

The police are searching for another accused Dara Manik Rao of Himayatnagar in Hyderabad in this case.

According to Kaikaluru circle inspector Akula Raghu, the four accused thought of earning money by threatening traders who have huge money and chose a trader I.V.K.V. Prasada Raju alias Vazram of Kaikaluru and phoned him four times, threatening him in the name of Maoists and demanded Rs 2 crore. The trader told them that he doesn’t have such a huge amount. However, they did not heed the trader’s plea and continued their threats for one month.

The trader approached the police. Receiving information that the accused were making recce at the house of the trader, the Kaikaluru sub-inspector G. Jyothi Basu and his team rushed to the spot and arrested them. Raghu said that a cellphone and two SIM cards were seized from them. Kaikaluru police registered a case.
