Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Tarun Kumar appeared before the Excise department’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) for questioning in connection with the drug racket. The investigators said they were expecting some “important clues” from the actor.
In another development, another young Tollywood actor Pallapollu Navdeep would be appearing before the SIT on Monday, as well as actress Charmme Kaur.
On Saturday morning, Tarun Kumar reached Abkari Bhavan at around 10 am. “The questioning started at 10.30 am. He kept saying he had been clean and sober for a long time now. His call records and other evidences were shown to him. The interrogation report is being prepared now,” said an Excise official. The SIT collected blood, nail and hair samples of the actor for tests.
Meanwhile, the SIT has summoned officials of three major courier companies — DHL, Blue Dart and FedEx — in connection with the case. As the role of postal department has also come under scanner, SIT has written to the chief post master general seeking his support in the investigations. The SIT is focusing on how the courier services and the postal department overlooked drug supplies from abroad.
