Odisha: With arrow tuck in body, man rides bike to hospital

According to reports, Ajay had a dispute with one Indramani of same village over some monetary transactions.

Bhubaneswar: A man who was shot with an arrow on Saturday reached Karanjia health centre in Mayurbhanj district riding a bike for treatment.

With the arrow piercing his stomach, Ajay Mahant, a resident of Nishaposi under Thakurmunda police station here, did not care for the excruciating pain to overpower him and rode to hospital before it was late.

According to reports, Ajay had a dispute with one Indramani of same village over some monetary transactions. He had been demanding the amount since long and had an altercation with Indramani on Friday.

In a fit of rage, Indramani shot him with an arrow. Doctors said the intestine of Ajay sustained grievous injuries. After arriving at the hospital, he vomited. However, after primary treatment, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a critical condition.

“We suspect internal injuries in stomach and abdomen. We referred him to Cuttack after administering first-aid,” doctor Nihar Parida of Karanjia health centre said.
