Hyderabad: In 2014, a minor girl from Nagalgondi of Kerameri mandal was sold to a man in Rajasthan. Police registered a missing case and during the course of investigation it was found that her own relative had taken her to Rajasthan and got her married to the man after taking Rs 1.5 lakh. In 2015, M. Saritha, 20, (name changed) went missing from Selewada (B) village of Utnoor mandal. After 15 days she called her family and said that she was sold to Chandrakanth, a Rajasthani, by one Hari Singh for Rs 1.5 lakh. She was forced into marriage with him. Police arrested Nisthe Hari Singh along with two other agents Chankati Jangu and Madavi Jangu from Pipri and Keslapur villages of Indravelly mandal. During the course of investigation, the accused disclosed that they had sold five women to Rajasthan gangs for Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh per woman.
A married woman from Samaka village of Indravelli mandal went missing on January 23, 2016. Based on a complaint filed by her husband, police registered a case and on investigation they identified the role of Hari Singh’s gang. A 22-year-old widow was lured by Hari Singh and sold in Rajasthan. A 31-year-old teacher from Khadki of Naroor mandal, whose parents could not arrange her marriage because of poverty, was trapped by human traffickers with the promise that they would get her married. Later she was sold to Premchand Vad, 51, of Rajasthan for Rs 40,000. A woman from Kerameri was sold to a Madhya Pradesh trafficking gang. When she was sent home after her rescue, her family refused to accept her.
