Bus runs over 15-year-old Mysuru girl
Bengaluru: A 15-year-old girl was crushed under the wheels of a BMTC bus, while her brother sustained injuries when the bus crashed into their two-wheeler near Indian Oil petrol pump in Pantharapalya Road on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Savita, while the injured is Santosh, 19. They hailed from Bilikere village in Mysuru district. Savita passed SSLC exam this year, while Santosh is pursuing graduation.
Savita and Santosh, who came to the city on Saturday evening, were staying in their sister’s house in Sunkadakatte. They were heading towards Akka Mahadevi wedding hall in Raja Rajeshwarinagar to attend the wedding of a relative when the accident occurred.
“They were riding past the Indian Oil petrol pump on Panatharapalya Road around 10.30 am when the BMTC bus (route no. 223A) heading from City Market to Doddabasti hit their two-wheeler from rear. Santosh fell to his left, while Savita to her right. The rear wheel of the bus ran over her head killing her on the spot. Santosh escaped with minor injuries,” the police said.
The bus driver, Suresh, who was arrested, told the police that the rider moved to the left suddenly without any indication, leading to the accident. “Savita, who was riding the pillion, was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred,” the Byatarayanapura traffic police, who have registered a case, said.
