Woman ganja peddler expelled from Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: In a first of its kind, a woman has been expelled from the city for indulging in anti-social elements and creating law and order issues in the city. The woman, Jonnalagadda Saramma (Sarada), 39, was expelled on the orders of NTR district police commissioner Kanti Rana Tata.

Accused Sarada has been caught by the police many times for peddling ganja and was sent to jail. After coming out on bail, she continued to do the same illegal ganja peddling and create law and order issues. Despite warnings by the police to change her attitude, there was no change, and with no option left for the police, she was expelled from Vijayawada police commissionerate jurisdiction.

City police commissioner Kanti Rana Tata expelled 19 persons so far from the NTR district police commissionerate who were creating law and order issues in the city, causing untoward incidents and riots, and creating disturbance in society. Similarly, a few more misbehaving people and ganja peddlers will be identified, and legal action will be taken against them.

The police commissioner stated that a strict vigil had been set up against drug trafficking and various anti-social activities in the city and warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone involved in smuggling or illegal activities. Kanti Rana further warned that cases would be registered against them and action would be taken as per law. If there is no change in their attitude, they will be expelled from the city, added the police commissioner.
