OU assistant prof. accused of racial abuse

PhD scholar files police complaint against three for abusing his SC status

Hyderabad: A PhD scholar from Osmania University (OU) has filed a police complaint against an assistant professor alleging that the latter has been spreading wrong news against him to insult him as he belonged to Schedule Caste (SC). The accused has denied all the allegations.

The complainant, Salaiah Stalin, a PhD scholar in the department of sociology, lodged the complaint at the OU police station against Dr Ramaiah Bheenaveni Shepard, an assistant professor in the same department.

The complaint stated that the accused has been abusing Stalin’s character on WhatsApp groups.

The complainant also named two other research scholars i- RN Shankar and Seemarla Chinna Lingamaiah - claiming they are associates of the accused and targeted him because of his SC status.

Meanwhile, the accused said he had neither created any pdf as was alleged nor did he circulate any WhatsApp messages regarding the student. He said the pdf was in Telugu and he could not type in Telugu.

"It's an unfair and shocking accusation. I have been busy with my own work and have no animosity towards the complainant or anyone else," Prof. Shepard said.
