Nellore: In connection to the theft of cash worth Rs 50 lakh from a gold trader, the railway police arrested a construction equipment supplier and his lover.
Interestingly, the supplier, who had disguised himself as a cop during his daring attempt, got the information from the woman he was having an affair with.
While the accused, Marri Ravi, is a native of the Chennayapalem village in Kavali mandal, the woman — one among few being used by the trader to bring gold biscuits from Chennai and dispose them without any bills in Kavali — started sharing the information after being pressurised from Ravi.
Based on her information, Ravi and his men robbed cash being carried to Chennai by the employees of trader by posing as police constables in two occasions.
The trader approached the cops after the woman told him that a police robbed Rs 50 lakhs she is carrying at Gudur railway station two days back.
