Hyderabad: 6 men nabbed in job racket
Hyderabad: A gang lead by a former GHMC employee cheated around 50 government job hopefuls of Rs 1 crore promising them jobs in the GHMC and other government departments.
The suspects took lakhs from each victim and provided fake appointment orders. The central zone task force team arrested seven people after an investigation. The gang offered jobs in the irrigation department, DRDO, social welfare, tourism department, revenue department etc. “The victims were told that they would get the posts of record assistants, junior assistants, junior fellowships, court examiners and attenders,” said DCP B. Limba Reddy.
Police said the prime accused Aska Vinay Kumar, who had earlier worked in the GHMC’s tax section, circle 9, Abids as a bill collector, was earlier involved in other offences.
“He cheated the public by issuing fake bills and the GHMC suspended him in 2008. Abids police had arrested him. In 2014, he was arrested by central zone task force in another fraud case. After release from jail he set up a gang and started duping unemployed youths promising them government jobs through the back door,” said Limba Reddy.
“He made them believe that he had contacts with top officers. The other five worked for him by attracting youths and collecting money. They must have cheated 45 to 50 youths and took around Rs 1 crore from them,” said the official.
The gang cheated a person named R.V.L.N. Jagapathi Raju promising to deliver a land regulation clearance certificate and took Rs 25 lakh from him. In another case, they took Rs 2.2 lakh from a man named S.B. Venkat Yadav in the name of building permission from the GHMC.
