HY Meti sex tape: CID questions Murugesh Nirani
Bengaluru: The officials of the CID, who are probing into the sex tape case involving former minister H. Y. Meti, questioned industrialist and former minister Murugesh Nirani on Friday.
Sources in the CID said that Mr. Nirani was summoned to appear before the investigating officer as part of the on going probe. “Investigations had revealed that Mr. Nirani, who runs a distillery plant in Mudhol of Bagalkot district, had approached Mr. Meti, when he was the Excise Minister, seeking some help related to his business. As Mr. Meti had turned down his requests and it was suspected Mr. Nirani might have taken Mr. Meti’s gunman’s help to tarnish the latter image, he was questioned,” an official said.
The officials reportedly questioned Mr. Nirani for nearly two hours and Mr. Nirani clearly denied the allegations against him. “He said that he was a close friend of Mr. Meti for several decades and why would he try to tarnish his image now, that too for business reasons. We have recorded his statement and are continuing the probe.” the official added.
