Bengaluru: A 23-year-old inter-state thief, who stole more than 50 two-wheelers to ensure his lady love lived a luxury life, is now cooling his heels in jail.
The Bommanahalli police have arrested P. Manohar, who hails from Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh and stays in Bommanahalli, and recovered 51 motorcycles worth Rs 25 lakh from him. With his arrest, the police claim to have solved 35 cases of bike thefts reported in different states.
The police said that Manohar, who also indulged in betting, wanted to make a quick buck to let his girl friend lead a luxurious life. After stealing the bikes, he either sold the bikes as a whole, or broke them down and sold parts.
Manohar was wanted in 24 cases of bike theft in Bengaluru alone, 22 in Bommanahalli, one in Madiwala and one in Begur.
