Anantapur: Anantapur Three Town police on Wednesday arrested a convict who had remained elusive for past three years.
Three Town inspector Kathi Sreenivasulu said on September 14, 2014, they had registered a case against Guna alias Munna and Jafar of Anantapur for attacking a married woman.
After charges had been proved against the duo, the court awarded five years’ imprisonment to Guna and three years to Jafar in 2017.
Jafar appealed to First ADJ Court for reduction in the period of imprisonment. The court then reduced his punishment to one-year imprisonment.
However, Jafar did not surrender before the trial court and absconded.
The court then issued a non-bailable warrant against him, following which Three Town police nabbed him on Wednesday and produced him before the trail court.
