Hyderabad: A 51-year-old priest at a temple in Kushaiguda was arrested for sending objectionable pictures and videos to a woman. Despite the warning, he failed to correct his behaviour. The SHE Team, which received a complaint from the victim, have arrested Ch Bhaskara Sharma.
The She Teams also apprehended 33 others for misbehaving with women and girls. As many as 38 complaints have been received by the Rachakonda SHE Team over the last four weeks, of which FIRs were registered in 21 cases and 12 cases were booked. The persons apprehended include six minor boys, for eve-teasing and harassment of women and girls.
Rachakonda police said that in the Kushaiguda case, a housewife, 41, was a regular visitor at a temple located in AS Rao Nagar. The priest at the temple, Ch Bhaskara Sharma, had taken the woman's number. A few days later, the woman received WhatsApp messages, which were objectionable in nature, from the priest. Despite her warnings, Sharma continued to send such messages. She then lodged a complaint with the SHE Team. A case was registered at the Kushaiguda police station under section 354 D of IPC and the priest was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
“The She Teams also apprehended four juvenile boys who were found teasing women at a street in Kushaiguda and Vanasthalipuram. They were counseled before letting off,” said the police.
The SHE Teams also averted four child marriages at Vanasthalipur-am, Bhongir, Choutuppal, and Ibrahimpatnam.
