Hyderabad: Luring her with colours, man rapes, kills 6-year-old

Accused used iron wire to slit the victim’s neck.

Hyderabad: In a heinous crime, a 20-year-old man sexually abused and killed a six-year-old girl by slitting her throat on Thursday afternoon. She was abducted by the accused in the afternoon and abused in a secluded area near the railway tracks, and then murdered.

At the time of the abduction, the girl’s parents were away at work. First, the accused took the brother of the victim to a shop and bought him colours. In the same manner, he lured the victim to go with him to the secluded area.

The accused Rajesh arrived in the city two months ago. According to the police, he had come to visit his brother-in-law, who lives next to the victim’s house, to celebrate Holi on Thursday. He was under the influence of alcohol when he committed the crime.

While the accused and his friends were playing Holi on the streets, the victim and her brother joined him.

First, he took the boy to a nearby shop and bought him colours to play with. In the same manner, he took the girl away from the scene and then abducted her to a nearby secluded area next to the railway tracks, where he abused her and then killed her.

It looks like when the girl tried fighting the abuse, he subdued her and gashed her neck with an iron wire which was in his possession and continued the act. The girl succumbed to her injuries and died.

Later in the day, when the victim’s father returned from work, he found only his son at home. So he enquired and searched for his daughter in the surrounding areas but in vain. Subsequently, he approached the cops and lodged a complaint.

Balanagar division Deputy commissioner of police Ms P. V. Padmaja said, “We registered a case of kidnapping and formed three teams to nab the culprit. We also put the dog squad into action. The bloodhound trail ended at the house right next to the minor girl’s residence. Following the inquiry, the cops zeroed in on the position of the killer and nabbed him at a house in the Krishnanagar colony in Bollaram within 12 hours of committing the offence.”

She further added that the killer Rajesh Kumar used to work at Nandini Tent house, Bollaram. The accused, hailing from Bihar, came to Hyderabad two months ago.

When questioned, the killer confessed to the crime which he had committed while in an inebriated condition. The cops have recovered the incriminating evidence, i.e., the small iron wire that he used to kill the victim. The cops have registered the case under sections 363, 376-A, 376 AB, 302 IPC and Sec 5 r/w 6 of POCSO ACT 201.
