Mishel Shaji case: More statements against Cronin Alexander

Crime Branch is trying hard to collect substantial evidence against Cronin, who was in a relationship with Mishel for nearly two years.

Kochi: The Crime Branch team probing death of 18- year-old CA student Mishel Shaji Varghese has recorded more statements against Cronin Alexander, arrested on abetment to suicide charges in the case, which revealed he had prevented her from interacting with male friends and often behaved aggressively.

According to sources, a youth who had pursued an entrance coaching course in Kottayam with the girl, has given the statement before the Crime Branch team which is trying hard to collect substantial evidence against Cronin, who was in a relationship with her for nearly two years.

As per the statement, Cronin had called him twice to threaten him and also sought details of other boys she had been interacting with.

Earlier, a hostel mate of Mishel had told the interrogators that Cronin used to put Mishel under immense mental pressure and that she wanted to break up.

Also, the Crime Branch team is now looking for possible witnesses who had seen the girl near the second Goshree bridge.

Investigators are of the view that the girl jumped off the bridge around 7.45 pm on March 5, when there was a heavy traffic along the route.

Earlier, Amal Wilfred, a native of Vypeen had given a statement to police that he saw a girl near the second Goshree bridge around 7 pm during the day.

The police also collected CCTV visuals of a girl resembling Mishel heading to the Goshree Bridge around 7 pm.
