Police fail to identify victim of gangrape
Hyderabad: Afzalgunj police has not identified the body of the man who was raped and killed by an unidentified gang as no one has come forward to claim his body.
Police said they did not get any clue about the victim from the bar where he and the gang consumed liquor. Police is checking CCTV footage in the bar and outside. The footage from a CCTV camera installed outside the Amrita Bar showed three men arriving in an autorickshaw at the crime spot.
“The footage showed the victim sleeping on the footpath. We have to enlarge and examine the footage to identify the vehicle and the assailants,” said Afzalgunj inspector C Anjaiah. Police suspects the killers must have got drunk somewhere else and had come to the place.
“The investigation is progressing. We have to find out if the killers had planned the offence,” an official said. The 40-year-old unidentified man was allegedly gangraped and murdered by unknown people at Puthli Bowli in Afzalgunj in the early hours of Monday.
The body was found with hands and legs tied near a local bar. Cops, who found liquor bottles at the place, said they had found evidence that the man was sodomised before death.
The cops also found semen and blood stains on the victim’s body. Police suspects the man was smothered to death after he was sodomised by the gang.
