Hyderabad: Man files fictitious GST returns, held

According to GST evasion sleuth, Harkara intended to supply fake GST invoices to various firms and floated three companies.

Hyderabad: The Central GST Commissionerate arrested the managing partner of Laxmi Ganesh Enterprises, for creating fake GST invoices of around Rs 260 crore to help several firms profit by Rs 25 crore.

Medchal Central GST commissionerate officers arrested Harkara Karthik Chakravarthi, the managing partner, on February 21 for allegedly issuing fake GST invoices without an actual supply of goods to the recipients.

According to GST evasion sleuth, Harkara intended to supply fake GST invoices to various firms and floated three companies namely M/s Laxmi Ganesh Enterprises, M/s Harkara Iron steel and Cement Pvt. Ltd and has been filing fictitious GSTR — 3B returns. The case originated based on the data analytics of the department, where it indicated that there was a huge variation in the GSTR — 3B returns and GSTR — 2b details.

The man has been booked under offences punishable under Section 132 of CGST act 2018 and arrested under Section 69 of CGST Act, 2017.
