Belagavi: Stamp paper scam kingpin's family attacked by relatives
Belagavi: The family of fake stamp paper scam kingpin, late Karim Lala, has alleged that they were attacked by their close relatives over seizure of Lala's properties by the government.
In a complaint to Belagavi police, Lala's wife Shahida and daughter Sana Talikoti alleged that their relatives, including Lala's brothers, brutally attacked them.
They were objecting to the handing over of all Lala's properties and assets to the government through CBI. Lala's relatives and 10 others entered their house at Khanapur and questioned Shahida over what made her hand over all assets to the government. Sana alleged they physically assaulted her and her mother.
According to sources, all relatives of Lala were upset over the transfer of Lala's assets to the government and used to quarrel with Shahida over the issue.
Sana stated in her complaint that her mother, who was ailing due to multi-organ failure, was badly attacked by her relatives at home. Although, Sana told the assailants that she was pregnant, they still attacked her.
According Sana, her husband Irfan Talikoti, a noted Congress party leader was not at home when the attack took place. The same gang of relatives had attacked the maid servant of Shahida a few days ago over the ongoing quarrel over properties. They exerted pressure on her to stop working at Shahida's house. Sana urged the police to initiate action against all the attackers, including her relatives. Khanapur police have registered a case and begun investigation.
The row erupted a few months ago when Lala's body was brought to Khanapur from Bengaluru for funeral. Lala's family entered into a verbal duel with relatives when the body was being carried for last rites at Khanapur.
