Black magic claims another life in Kerala
Kozhikode: Black magic has claimed the life of another woman in the state after a few similar incidents that occurred at different places some time ago.
Shameena, 29, Laila Manzil, Puthiya Kadavu, died in a hospital here on Wednesday after sustaining burns in the black magic performed on her by a sorceress at Purameri on Saturday.
Shameena, a divorcee, had sought the help of sorceress Najma, 35, Koovottpoyil Adukkath, Kuttiyadi, to find a new alliance. Najma used petrol instead of kerosene for the rituals which caught fire leading to the tragedy. The police recovered the burnt chair and other furniture in the room.
Soon after the incident, Najma had painted the wall of the room and cleaned the floor to remove all the evidence. The victim's burnt dresses were also buried.
Najma, who was charged with attempt to murder and destroying evidence, was remanded by the Nadapuram first class magistrate court on Tuesday.
According to the locals, Najma had started black magic four years ago at her native place, Kuttiyadi, and moved to Purameri after the neighbours protested.
