Bengaluru: Dejected nurse hangs self at hospital quarters
Bengaluru: Dejected over unrequited love, a 25-year-old on Monday hanged herself from the ceiling of the hospital she worked at, in Chandra Layout police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Nishkala, who hailed from Chamarajanagar and stayed at Maruthinagar. She moved into the city a year ago and started working at Sridevi Hospital in Nagarbhavi. Initially she stayed in Vijayanagar and later when she got the job, the hospital offered her accommodation in the same building with other nurses.
The police said that she was in a relationship with her co-worker Gangadhar, who had been working in hospital for the last 10 years and lived on the ground floor of the same building. A few months ago, she asked him to marry her but he rejected, saying that they cannot marry each other as they belong to different castes and his parents will not agree. He started ignoring her over the last few days and stopped talking to her. Gangadhar left the job three days ago without informing anyone and her parents had also got to know about her relationship with him. Around 7 am on Monday, she hanged herself from the ceiling fan and left a suicide note saying that she chose to end her life and no one was responsible for her death.
