Hyderabad: In a joint operation, a Special Operations Team along with Shamshabad police on Tuesday, arrested a man at Gaganpahad and seized two country-made pistols and 44 live rounds from his possession.
The accused was identified as Mohammed Farooq Ahmed, alias Javed, of Mahabubnagar, who is said to be involved in 10 criminal cases including extortion, murder and robbery in the city and Cyberabad police limits.
Police said Ahmed had been arrested in 2016 for possessing of two firearms, and released on bail. In 2019 he purchased another illegal weapon for Rs 35,000 from the same firearms dealer, one Faisal a native of Meerut, N. Prakash Reddy, deputy commissioner of police, Shamshabad, said.
