Hyderabad: Police officials who hit 9 youths transferred
Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar on Friday took action against five Bowenpally police pesonnel who beat up nine persons, including a minor, while they were celebrating a birthday.
The station house officer, three sub-inspectors, a Home Guard and a constable were attached to the Armed Reserve headquarters.
The Bowenpally police station has been placed under the charge of an additional inspector.
Mr Anjani Kumar attached Bowenpally inspector V. Anand Kishore, sub-inspectors G. Guru Swamy, M. Srinivas and V. Mohan Babu, constable B. Kiran Kumar, and Home Guard G. Tirupathi Reddy to the CAR headquarters.
The commissioner said, “The additional inspector (D. Swamy Goud) will be taking charge as station house officer for now. We will be starting a process to transfer and appoint someone there in the near future.”
Mr Goud said he was yet to receive a formal order to take charge of the police station.
The youth said that they were celebrating their friend's birthday when the police swooped down on them.
One of the victims, Sandeep Kumar, a law student in Bowenpally, said, “The policemen told us that we were creating a nuisance by taking part in the celebrations and took nine of us with them in jeeps to the police station.”
“Before listening to us, they started beating us with lathis and boots. We are neither involved in any case nor did we do anything wrong. I cannot even show the injuries to my parents, we were beaten that badly,” he said.
