YSRC cadre buoyant over 2G case verdict

Naming Mr Reddy as prime accused in all the cases, the CBI arrested him in 2012.

Kurnool: The YSR Congress was buoyant on Thursday over acquittal of DMK politicians A. Raja, Kanimozhi, who were implicated in the sensational 2G spectrum case by a special CBI court. An YSRC senior leader said that while 2G case itself was struck down, there is a very fair chance that all the cases foisted against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would be struck off. Jagan would come out like a shining gem, he added.

It may be mentioned here that rival Telugu Desam has been accusing that the YSRC chief was lobbying hard to get his cases annulled by the CBI court. Most of the cases involve quid pro quo payments, they cannot be proved against Mr Reddy as he was not holding any public office at the time of the happening of those events.

About eleven charge sheets filed, which have accused the leader of Opposition getting investments running into several crores from various individuals and firms into his businesses as quid pro quo favours bestowed on them during the tenure of his father Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who was Chief Minister between 2004 and 2009.

Naming Mr Reddy as prime accused in all the cases, the CBI arrested him in 2012. The first charge sheet was filed against him along with 12 others on March 31 in the year 2012 on the issue relating to allotment of land to the tune of 75 acre each to Hetero and Aurobindo Pharma.
