Telangana: Man nabbed for attack on banker

Police is also searching for the driver in connection with the case.

Hyderabad: Three days after a private bank Managing Director was shot at by an unidentified assailant, west zone police took a man into custody for grilling. The detainee is a cousin of bank MD Manmath Dalai’s previous driver. Police is also searching for the driver in connection with the case. However, the police has not made any formal arrests so far in the case. Police sources said that Dalai's driver and his cousin are suspected to have planned an extortion and robbery earlier.

Based on preliminary clues, investigation officials had suspected that it was an offence pulled off by someone who knew the victim and his movements well. After the shooting, the driver had been missing. Police is checking CCTV footages to confirm the identity of the suspects before making a formal arrest.

A man had opened fire at KBS Bank MD Manmath Dalai at his apartment at Shanti Nagar in Masab Tank on Sunday afternoon. The victim sufferd an injury on his leg after the miscreant shot at him twice before fleeing. The man had introduced himself as a “cop from Crime Branch” to get into the house and then asked for money.

According to the victim, who is now undergoing treatment at a corporate hospital, the man came to his house in the afternoon and at the gate, he talked to him on the intercom telling that he wanted to meet him. When he got inside, he said he was a cop and asked for money. When the victim Manmath Dalai asked for his police issued identity card, the man took out a gun and pulled the trigger.
