Hyderabad: Man jumps in front of bus, dies
Hyderabad: A 33-year-old private employee in Hyderabad jumped in front of a moving RTC bus to end his life at Aliabad crossroads in Shameerpet on Wednesday morning. The Shameerpet police booked a case and are probing the reasons for the man to take an extreme step.
At about 8.15 am on Wednesday, a man jumped in front of an RTC bus (AP 15 AZ 0165) which was moving towards Hyderabad via Shameerpet. Reports initially emerged that the bus driver was negligent and hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road. However, CCTV footage showed that it was a suicide attempt, not an accident.
Shameerpet sub-inspector Naveen Reddy said the victim has been identified as L. Sathyavan, 33, a native of Maharashtra. He was working in Monarch Ergo, a company at Rajabollaram and lived in a rented accommodation.
“The CCTV footage clearly showed that Sathyavan attempted suicide. For a while, he was seen waiting on the roadside with a bag. On seeing an RTC bus come closer, he ran and jumped in front of it. The bus driver tried to escape him, but in vain,” said SI Naveen.
The S-I said that reasons for Sathyavan to take this extreme step are yet to be known. The family of the victim has been intimated and the body will be handed over to them after a post-mortem at Gandhi Hospital. A case has been registered against the driver, hailing from Husnabad for investigation.
