Five ganja peddlers held in chennai

Chennai: In two different cases, the city police detected and seized banned gutka and tobacco products here, on Tuesday.

Based on a tip-off, Aminjikarai police arrested four persons identified as A. Karunagaran (30) and R. Rajesh (20), of Aminjikarai, M. Ravanan (62) of Puliyantope and M. Raghu (45) of T.B.Chatram.

Police said, the four were caught selling ganja at the N.S.K. bus stand in Aminjikarai.

Investigations also revealed that the men smuggled ganja products from Andhra Pradesh, and sold them in Chennai.

Contraband weighing three-kilograms was seized from them.

Likewise, Mylapore police got information that ganja was being sold in Nageshwara Rao Park, in Mylapore.

Following the alert, Mylapore police raided the place and seized 1.2 kilograms of gutka products and arrested the local peddler, P. Subramaniyan (47), of Virugambakkam.

All the five were arrested, and sent to judicial remand.
