Bengaluru: 11-member gang held for murder

The investigation revealed that Shivu's friend was in love with a girl and the girl's relatives had assaulted him.

Bengaluru: The Varthur police have arrested a gang of 11 members who had allegedly hacked a 30-year-old man to death on November 6. The accused have been identified as Naveen, Harish, Prashanth, Abhilash, Solle Prashanth, Ravi, Prashanth and four others. All are residents of Varthur and surrounding areas. They have been accused of murdering Shivu alias Karate Shivu. The police said that Shivu, a resident of Biligere in Varthur, was attacked near his house by a gang of 10-12 assailants on November 6 evening. He was admitted to a hospital where he died the next day. The investigation revealed that Shivu’s friend was in love with a girl and the girl’s relatives had assaulted him and warned him to stay away from her.

Later, Shivu had assaulted a few people who had attacked his friend. “Shivu and the accused were nursing a grudge against each other and both thought the opponents would attack them. It was going on for the last few months, and finally, Naveen and his associates hacked Shivu to death. The accused had gone missing after the murder,” the police said.
