WhatsApp chat led to student stabbing: Petbasheerabad Police
Hyderabad: The Petbasheerabad police, which is probing the attack on a student of Narsimha Reddy Engineering College in Maisammaguda village, found that the attack on Bhuvaneshwar was the result of a heated argument among a few students in a WhatsApp group.
After analysing the chat details, the police found that Bhuvaneswar and the accused, Rohith, and others had a heated exchange of words. Later, they took the fight to college campus. “Repu college ki vacheyi (Come to college tomorrow),” reads a post by Rohith.
Mr S. Ravi Chandra, inspector of Petbasheerabad, said that the incident looks like a sudden provocation over a WhatsApp chat. The motive behind the attack can be known after the suspect is nabbed. “Police teams are working to trace him. Bhuvaneshwar is recovering slowly and is out of danger. Once he recovers, he may reveal more details,” the inspector said. The police has also questioned other students and collected the evidence.
Meanwhile, Bhuvaneshwar’s family alleged that three more students were involved in the attack. Mr Srinivasa Rao, ACP Petbasheerabad, said, “All technical evidence is gathered to solve the case and nab the accused.” Bhuvaneshwar’s friend, Vaibhav Tiwary, also sustained injuries in the attack when he tried to rescue Bhuvaneshwar. He is reported to be stable now.
