Kurnool Boy Kidnapped for 2 Crore Ransom Rescued
Hyderabad: Kadthal police of Cyberabad commissionerate rescued a 16-year-old boy who was kidnapped for Rs 2 crore ransom and arrested four kidnappers, with the help of Kurnool district police of Andhra Pradesh.
The main accused, Gouni Basavaraju, works in the nursery owned by the boy’s family, said DCP Shamshabad K Narayana Reddy.
The boy was kidnapped on Sunday morning, following which police, based on technical evidence, found the kidnappers were near Kurnool and alerted the Kurnool police.
Using the clues, Kurnool police intercepted the vehicle in which the kidnappers were taking the boy and detained them. They were later handed over to Cyberabad police.
Police found that the boy’s mother remained a surety for around Rs 26 lakh which Basavaraju had borrowed from other persons. However, as he could not repay them, he hatched the kidnap plan so that he could collect money from the woman and clear his debts.
As per the plan, he along with other accused called the boy to the nursery to collect plants and when he came there, they kidnapped them, the police said.
