Secunderabad Lady Advocate Loses 27 Lakhs to Cyber Fraud

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old woman advocate from Secunderabad was duped by a cyber fraudster, who claimed to be a Cardiothoracic Surgeon working for Brooke Army Medical Centre (BAMC), USA.

Identifying himself as Adi Javesh, the suspect approached the woman, after seeing her profile on a matrimonial site and expressed his willingness to marry her. Claiming that he was stuck in Syria, he made her transfer money and citing several other reasons, he duped her to a tune of over Rs 27 lakh.

The suspect told the woman that he was travelling to Syria for work, after which there was no communication from him. A few days later, he called her over WhatsApp saying that terrorists attacked their base, due to which he was afraid. He told her that he wanted to leave the place, but as his bank accounts were frozen due to the terror activity there, he requested financial support from her so that he can come to India and marry her.

A few more days later, he contacted the woman again, informing he was caught by customs officials at Mumbai Airport as he was carrying some valuable belongings and gold exceeding the permitted limit and he had to pay the tax to get released.

Meanwhile, two weeks ago, another person claiming to be Edward called the woman informing that he was bringing her a bag sent by Javesh and delivered it to her, which was very heavy.

Javesh who had already told her that he was sending her valuables gifts, started asking more money from her, due to which she became suspicious and reported the matter to the police.
