Mylapore: Four held for stealing mobile phones

The mobile was recovered from the accused, identified as P Ravindran (37) of Tiruvotriyur.

Chennai: The city police launched a hunt to nab a bike-borne duo who snatched a mobile phone from a woman in Mylapore here on Monday night.

According to police, T. Pavithra, a resident of Millers Road, was walking to a bus stop on Sivagami Salai after finishing her accountancy class when three men on a two-wheeler snatched her chain and fled the spot. Based on her complaint, the Mylapore police launched a hunt to nab the snatchers with the help of recovered CCTV footages from the area.

Meanwhile, Sathangadu police have arrested a man for robbing a mobile phone from a pedestrian at knifepoint. The mobile was recovered from the accused, identified as P Ravindran (37) of Tiruvotriyur. The incident happened when the victim L. Gopalakrishan (28) of Tiruvotriyur was walking home after work on Sunday night. Similarly, St. Thomas Mount police have arrested three persons for robbing a mobile phone from a college student in Alandur on Monday evening. Three mobile phones were seized.

According to the police, the victim Sathishkumar (19) of Dharmapuri, an engineering student, was waiting for a bus at MKN Nagar bus stop when five men on two motorbikes surrounded him and robbed his mobile phone. Sathishkumar raised an alarm when they tried to flee the spot. Hearing his cries, the passers-by managed to nab one of the accused, E. Parthiban (20) of Tambaram and based on his inputs, K. Surya (19) of Tambaram Sanatorium and A. Sabir Basha (21) of Guindy were arrested. Police launched a hunt to nab the other two offenders.
